Exhibition: “Hudson Valley Abstractions” Paintings and Cermamics
August 30 @ 12:00 pm - October 6 @ 5:00 pm
Painter Ginny Howsam-Friedman derives her paintings and drawings from the natural environment. She searches for underlying geometry and order amid natures chaos. Her work translates surface and subterranean geography to canvas and paper. The combination of macrocosm and microcosm realities cast the familiar in a new perspective.
Basia Goldsmith’s paintings reflects her deep personal connection with the Hudson River. From her apartment window on Riverside Drive, she captures the essence of color, line, and shapes, always conscious of the contrast between city and nature. Inspired by the American Abstract Expressionists, Ms. Goldsmiths paintings depict the city and natures metamorphosis towards abstraction.
Josh Nathanson is a ceramicist who incorporates his obsession with texture into his creations. He produces one-of-a-kind tactile, functional pieces with an emphasis on the evidence of human touch and an embrace of imperfect organic rawness.
